Maria Laura Bechelli de Azevedo Marques began her artistic career with painting on porcelain in 1968 and her training as a watercolorist in 1984 with Iole Di Natale at Faculdade Santa Marcelina, in São Paulo, where she also completed a Post-Graduate Specialization in Painting in Watercolor from 1996 to 1998 at FASM, having studied with the masters Norberto Stori, Ubirajara Ribeiro and Rubens Matuck in São Paulo. She also took the Acquarello course at Plein Air in Venice (1994).
She has worked uninterruptedly for over 45 years, always painting the cane fields in Ribeirão Preto, the Serra da Mantiqueira in Monte Verde, and seascapes in Bertioga.
She participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in São Paulo, Brazil and abroad.
Received municipal and national awards.
It has works in collection in private and public institutions and has several publications of works.
Among his important professional experiences stands out the organization of the 1st National Watercolor Exhibition FASM, the 1st International Watercolor Quadrennial FASM in 2004, the National Watercolor Exhibition-International Event São Paulo 2008, and also coordinated the preparation of the book “AQUARELA - the color of memory”, commemorating 25 years of the Center for Watercolorists FASM and ABA, published in 2012.
She was one of the founders of the Center for Watercolorists FASM and the Brazilian Association of Watercolor and Art on Paper/ABA, being its President since 2006
As president of ABA, she launched in 2007 the idea of creating the Watercolor Museum in São Paulo.
